Tips for Holiday Shopping Online

Know about the store you are buying from.  Online stores should have their policies on returns and warranty information outlined at their site.  Shop stores that you trust.  If you are in doubt about any online store, check with the Better Business Bureau or Bizrate.com.

When using a credit card (its the best, easiest and safest way) make sure you are entering your information on a secure server.  This ensures that your information is only going where it should and no one else is receiving it.  Somewhere  on your web browser you will have a little icon that indicates you are on a secure server.  Where and what the icon looks like depends on which browser you use.

Don't buy from a store JUST because they are cheaper.  Customer service really counts for a lot since your transactions will be electronically or by phone.

Keep shipping costs in mind when you order.  Many stores charge shipping per order.  So try to avoid making unnecessary orders as they will end up costing you more money to ship.  Try to order everything in one order, if possible.

Be aware of what information you supply to online stores in order to protect your privacy.

Keep records of everything you purchase online.  If you encounter problems, they will be much easier to resolve with a paper trail.
